There’s a 1st Time for Everything: Celebrating Outstanding and Good Ofsted outcomes across New Horizons (NW).
We are incredibly proud to share two significant Ofsted milestones across our New Horizons homes.
Beach House has achieved an Outstanding judgement in all areas for the first time, while Amber House has secured a strong Good in all areas following its first inspection under new management. These outcomes highlight exceptional leadership, dedicated teams, and a shared commitment to achieving the very best outcomes for children and young people.
We love a milestone moment at New Horizons, and this one is a particularly special one. Following its most recent Ofsted inspection, Beach House has achieved an Outstanding judgement in all areas, marking a huge achievement for the home and the wider organisation. This result is the culmination of years of hard work, determination, and consistent, child-centred practice, and represents a proud moment for everyone involved.
Achieving Outstanding within residential children’s care reflects excellence across leadership, safeguarding, care planning, staff practice, and, most importantly, the lived experiences and outcomes of children and young people. The inspection confirmed that Beach House provides a safe, nurturing, and aspirational environment where young people are supported to thrive.
Exceptional leadership and a culture of excellence
Beach House is led by Cat, a highly experienced and deeply valued Registered Manager whose leadership, passion, and unwavering commitment to children’s welfare shine through in every aspect of the home. Ofsted praised the impact of this leadership, noting that “the manager provides strong, visible leadership that sets a clear tone of excellence across the home.”
Inspectors also highlighted the positive culture within the team, recognising that “staff feel supported, motivated and confident, creating a professional culture where high standards are consistently maintained.” This reflects the stable, values-led environment Cat has developed, where staff are empowered to deliver consistently high-quality care.
Under her leadership, the team has built strong, trusting relationships with young people, ensuring their emotional wellbeing is prioritised alongside education, independence, and preparation for the future. This Outstanding judgement is thoroughly deserved and reflects not only Cat’s dedication, but the collective effort of the entire Beach House team, who go above and beyond every single day.
Another milestone: a first Ofsted inspection at Amber House
And because the theme is first, we are equally proud to celebrate an important milestone at Amber House.
Our Amber House Manager, Paige, recently underwent her first Ofsted inspection as a Manager following her well-earned promotion. We are delighted to share that Paige and her team achieved Good in all areas, supported by very positive and encouraging feedback from the inspector.
Ofsted recognised the strength of leadership within the home, noting that “the home is overseen by a manager and deputy manager who are committed to the children and lead by example.” Inspectors also highlighted the warmth and understanding shown by leaders, stating that “the managers understand the children’s needs and personalities well and talk about them with warmth.”
Importantly, the inspection reflected the positive impact of visible and approachable leadership, with Ofsted commenting that “leaders and managers are visible at the home, which helps children and staff feel supported.” This feedback strongly reflects Paige’s leadership style and the supportive, child-focused culture being embedded at Amber House.
Looking ahead with pride and confidence
A huge congratulations to both managers and their teams; these outcomes simply wouldn’t be possible without the dedication, compassion, and professionalism shown across both homes. Achieving Outstanding and Good judgements reinforces our organisational commitment to strong leadership, reflective practice, and continuous improvement.
We are excited to see Paige continue to grow and build on this strong start at Amber House, supported by her team and the wider New Horizons network. At the same time, we look forward to Cat and the Beach House team maintaining their Outstanding standard, continuing to set a benchmark for excellence in residential care.
There are plenty more successes to come, and we couldn’t be prouder of what has been achieved so far.
