This FAQ page sets out to address some of the more common questions we are frequently asked by potential candidates looking for a career in Residential Children’s Care.

How does the recruitment process work at New Horizons NW?2023-10-13T15:04:56+01:00

As with all recruitment, New Horizons NW has a process for when we receive an application.

In the first instance, upon receipt of an application, we call the applicant to find out several things about them. Things such as age, location and the type of work required, full or part-time or relief work.

As New Horizons NW provides 24-hour care across our residential children’s care homes, there isn’t a typical one size fits all working week.

There are many factors to consider when rotas are issued but all are issued to offer the best possible stability to the children and young people living within our residential care homes.

Whether you need qualifications or not depends on the role you are applying for.

Will I receive training?2023-10-13T15:02:20+01:00

Yes, training is provided and before any new member of staff first walks onto a shift they will have to have safeguarding training.

There are many other types of training available, depending on your position.

New Horizons NW offers lots of career options in our residential children’s care homes across Lancashire and Sefton.

It isn’t unusual for people who start as relief workers to end up as Registered Managers of their own homes.
