Staff Progression a Company Priority
We recently asked our front-line staff what it meant to them to work at New Horizons (NW). Here’s what Registered Manager Ruth McCaig had to say.
“I have been with the company since February 2020 and have enjoyed every minute, and was given the opportunity to open Shoreside in April 2020.
The company’s ethos and child focused manner helps to enable you, as a manager, to create positive outcomes for the young people we look after. New Horizons always have the well-being of the child at the heart of everything they do.
Staff progression is a company priority, which helps with staff retention, and they have supported and enabled me in completing my Level 5 Diploma, within 6 months.”

Scott joined the company in June 2021 and has been a great support to Ruth, Shoreside’s Registered Manager. Ruth spotted the potential in Scott, which led to her giving him additional responsibilities in his role. Scott has thrived under Ruth’s guidance, easily rising to his new challenges and has quickly been promoted to Senior Team Leader. Welcome to Shoreside’s staff team Scott and well done.
