Painting Proves Therapeutic

Painting has proved a therapeutic pastime for one of the young people in our care, and since they moved into Beach House in May 2019 their abilities to engage positively with others have improved tenfold.

Their emotional intelligence has also progressed as they were unable to understand their feelings and express them to staff, at first. However, in recent months after some intensive 1-1 sessions with staff they are able to understand how they are feeling and can now verbalise this.

We have achieved this by using CBT therapy games and mood cards and encouraging the young person to engage positively with staff and others.

Thank you for the lovely picture.
