New Horizons Staff Retirement, Celebrating Tracy’s Remarkable Journey
Last week, we marked a New Horizons staff member’s retirement, which means a great deal to all of us.
Tracy, one of our longest serving colleagues and a founding member of the organisation, has retired after many years of commitment, care, and hard work.
Her contribution has helped shape New Horizons from day one, and her presence will be deeply missed across the team.
A milestone moment for New Horizons
Last week, New Horizons proudly marked the retirement of Tracy, a colleague who has been part of the organisation since its very beginning. This New Horizons staff retirement was not just a goodbye, it was a moment to recognise a career built on dedication, consistency, and genuine care for others.
Tracy’s work has supported the growth of our organisation in ways that are both practical and personal. From keeping things running behind the scenes to being a steady presence through busy periods, her impact has been felt every day at Head Office.
Many people have described Tracy as the person you could always rely on, someone who quietly made everything work while making everyone feel supported.
A founding colleague who helped shape our culture
Tracy joined New Horizons at the very start of our journey, making her a true part of our story. Over the years, her commitment has helped shape the culture we value so highly today, a culture built on care, teamwork, and doing the right thing even when no one is watching.
She has been consistently hardworking, dependable, and thoughtful, bringing a sense of calm and order into the workplace. Tracy never needed the spotlight, but her dedication spoke for itself. She supported colleagues through the good days and the difficult ones, offering reassurance, practical help, and a listening ear.
It is no surprise that so many people affectionately referred to her as a “mum” of the office. That label came from the small everyday acts that meant a lot, checking in on people, making sure everyone was alright, and keeping the team environment warm and welcoming.
A celebration filled with laughter, stories, and gratitude
To mark Tracy’s retirement, colleagues came together for a celebration that reflected just how valued she is. The room was filled with laughter, shared stories, and plenty of appreciation. It was a chance for everyone to pause and acknowledge what Tracy has given to the organisation over the years.
We also had a few well loved traditions to smile about. The endless brews, the gentle reminders, the tidying up after everyone, and of course, Dennis, who has been a much-loved part of office life too. There were plenty of jokes on the day, including the running theme that Tracy has been easing herself into retirement for months with her famous two hour shifts.
Humour aside, the feeling behind the celebration was clear, Tracy has been a cornerstone of our team, and the appreciation for her was felt by everyone there.
Why staff recognition matters
A New Horizons staff retirement is always a meaningful moment, because it gives us the opportunity to recognise dedication and long service properly. In a sector where values, stability, and consistency matter, recognising the people who hold organisations together is important. It strengthens team culture, reinforces shared values, and reminds everyone that people are seen, appreciated, and celebrated.
Tracy’s career is a great example of the difference one person can make through reliability and care. Her work has supported teams who support children and young people, and that ripple effect matters. When the people behind the scenes feel supported, appreciated, and valued, it helps the whole organisation thrive.
Wishing Tracy a happy retirement
As Tracy begins this new chapter, we want to say thank you, sincerely and wholeheartedly. Your contribution to New Horizons has been invaluable. You have helped shape our journey, supported countless colleagues, and made Head Office feel like a family.
