A Day to Remember: Our Fifth Annual Family Fun Day 2025
On Saturday, 28th June 2025, the New Horizons (NW) community came together once again at Walmer Bridge Village Hall for our Fifth Annual Family Fun Day – and what an unforgettable day it was!
With glorious summer sunshine, joyful laughter, and the spirit of togetherness filling the air, the event was a celebration of everything that makes our organisation special: connection, care, and community. Over 300 people attended, including the children and young people from our 15 residential homes across the North West, their families, carers, and our dedicated staff teams.
A Celebration of Family, Fun, and Togetherness
The Family Fun Day is one of the highlights of the year at New Horizons. It’s more than just a day of entertainment – it’s an integral part of our ethos of creating positive, stable experiences for children and young people in our care.
For many of the young people we support, events like these provide rare and invaluable opportunities to feel part of a bigger, supportive family. They get to relax, have fun, and see the adults around them – carers, managers, and support teams – outside of the everyday routines. It’s a moment where everyone can just be together.
It’s also a chance for our young people’s families and loved ones to meet our teams in a relaxed, friendly setting and witness first-hand the joy, support, and care that goes into our work every day.
Packed with Fun and Laughter
From inflatables and rides to magic and music, the day was bursting with activities for all ages. Here’s a huge THANK YOU to the amazing individuals and businesses who helped bring the day to life:
📸 Jennie and Gina from 127 Media – for capturing every smile, splash, and sparkle so we can remember and share the magic of the day.
🎪 Jonathan from OMG Leisure – for supplying the incredible inflatables and funfair attractions that kept the energy high all afternoon.
🎨 Sarah from Party Frendz – her face painting booth was never empty, with long queues of excited children choosing everything from butterflies to superheroes!
🪄 Kuko the Magician – kept crowds entertained with mind-bending tricks and interactive magic that had everyone, young and old, in fits of laughter.
🎤 Paul Crone – our brilliant compère for the day, keeping everything running smoothly with warmth, humour and great banter.
🍦 Martin’s Mr Whippy – providing ice-cold treats to help everyone cool off on a sunny day.
🍕 Claire from The Flying Pig Pizza – serving up delicious wood-fired pizzas that were a massive hit.
🚓 Ormskirk and Rual West Lancashire Police – who came with their van and some uniform to try on.
🍔 Chris on the BBQ – flipping burgers and hot dogs non-stop, ensuring no one went hungry.
🍭 Bill with Popcorn and Candyfloss – adding that classic fairground sweetness that made the whole field smell delicious.
🚑 Medic1 – on-site to make sure everyone stayed safe and well throughout the day.
We’re incredibly grateful to every one of these supporters for donating their time, talent, and services to make the day so memorable.
Why This Day Matters
At New Horizons, our mission goes beyond providing safe, nurturing residential homes. We are committed to creating life-enriching experiences that support each child’s emotional well-being, development, and sense of belonging.
Events like the Family Fun Day bring that mission to life. They help build connections across homes, strengthen relationships between carers and children, and offer a break from the challenges that many of our young people have faced. For our staff, it’s a chance to reconnect, recharge, and celebrate the incredible work they do year-round – something that’s vital in a sector that can be both emotionally rewarding and demanding.
Most importantly, our young people get to be kids: laughing, playing, running around in the sun – just as they should.

As we reflect on another successful Fun Day, we’re already thinking about how to make next year’s event even better. A huge thank you goes to all the staff who helped organise and run the event behind the scenes – your hard work made the day a huge success.
